YMCA Caroline Mentoring Project
The YMCA Caroline Mentoring Project is a free program for school-age residents of Caroline County. This program provides young people an opportunity to develop a structured, trusting relationship with caring adults who offer guidance, support, and encouragement. Mentee Requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Caroline County school, grades K-12
- Commit to spend a minimum of 4 hours a month with the mentor
- Have the support of his/her family for participation in the program
Mentor Requirements:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
- Complete the screening procedure
- Have access to reliable transportation
- Have a current driver’s license and auto insurance
Mentor Time Commitment:
- One-year
- Meet 4 hours per month
- Attend events/activities
- Attend meetings
- Attend trainings
Positive Outcomes:
- Improved school performance
- More self confidence
- Improvement in peer relationships
- Increased trust with relationships
- Increased overall fitness
