YMCA Caroline Mentoring Program

Is a free program for school-age residents of Caroline County. This program provides young people an opportunity to develop a structured, trusting relationship with caring adults who offer guidance, support, and encouragement. The program is designed to develop competence and character in our mentees. Our Program At A Glance:

  • Group mentoring model fosters natural relationships

  • Training for mentors is provided

  • Events and outings are planned and paid for by the program

  • Each mentee and mentor receives a full YMCA of the Chesapeake membership

  • Members experience a greater connection to their community  

Mentee Requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Caroline County school, grades PreK-12
  • Commit to spend a minimum of 4 hours a month with the mentor
  • Have the support of his/her family for participation in the program

Mentor Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
  • Complete the screening procedure
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Have a current driver’s license 

One-year commitment to the program:

  • Attend 2 events/month for 2/hours each
  • Attend occasional mentor meetings
  • Complete virtual and/or in-person trainings
  • Communicate with program coordinator via email/call/text
