YMCA Caroline Mentoring Program
Is a free program for school-age residents of Caroline County. This program provides young people an opportunity to develop a structured, trusting relationship with caring adults who offer guidance, support, and encouragement. The program is designed to develop competence and character in our mentees. Our Program At A Glance:
Group mentoring model fosters natural relationships
Training for mentors is provided
Events and outings are planned and paid for by the program
Each mentee and mentor receives a full YMCA of the Chesapeake membership
Members experience a greater connection to their community
Mentee Requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Caroline County school, grades PreK-12
- Commit to spend a minimum of 4 hours a month with the mentor
- Have the support of his/her family for participation in the program
Mentor Requirements:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Agree to a one-year commitment to the program
- Complete the screening procedure
- Have access to reliable transportation
- Have a current driver’s license
One-year commitment to the program:
- Attend 2 events/month for 2/hours each
- Attend occasional mentor meetings
- Complete virtual and/or in-person trainings
- Communicate with program coordinator via email/call/text
